Maria Tsipouridou joined the Department of Economics of Aristotle University, as an Assistant Professor in 2018. Before joining Aristotle University, Maria was Lecturer at Exeter University Business School. Maria holds a PhD in Accounting (Aristotle University), an MSc in Finance (Groningen University), an MSc in International Accounting and Finance (Strathclyde University) and a BSc in Economics (Aristotle University). In the past she worked as economist, and in ING Investment Management in the Netherlands.
Maria is currently teaching Auditing and Financial Accounting modules, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is member of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
Her current research interests include, but are not restricted to, the oversight of audit firms and the development and impact of auditing standards in capital markets. Her research has been presented in international conferences, such as the EARNet Symposium and the EAA conference, and her work published in highly ranked journals, such as the European Accounting Review, Accounting Forum, and Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. She serves as ad-hoc referee for the Accounting and Business Research, British Accounting Review, Accounting Forum, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy journals.
